Sheriff's Star Student Award Recipients
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 15, 2008
Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn today showcased $50,000 worth of recently purchased hi-tech equipment made possible by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Foundation, a 501 C-3 organization.
Purchased were two Spex Mini Crime Scopes, a RUVIS Krimesite Imager, lasers and a laser kit, two Pathfinder Dust Print Lifters, nine Bogen flexible arms and clamps, a VC 3000, an Everfocus single channel digital video recorder, a DVD/VHS recorder and fifteen T3 Royal Blue ALS Handheld Flashlights with goggles and camera filters.
“We thank the Sheriff’s Foundation for their generosity with the purchase of this much needed equipment which we were not able to accommodate in our budget,” said Sheriff O’Flynn. “In these tough economic times, the Sheriff’s Foundation makes it possible to purchase such equipment without using tax (payer) dollars.”
“The Foundation is always happy to support the Sheriff’s Office in providing a quality service to the community,” said John Riedman, President of the Sheriff’s Foundation.
The Sheriff’s Foundation is comprised of a group of respected community business leaders. Its premise is to fund special Sheriff’s Office projects and programs which are not possible with county funding alone. Donations to the Foundation help enhance community service programs on crime prevention, drug and alcohol awareness, and safety education. The Foundation has also provided specialized equipment that aids the Sheriff’s Office in crime investigation and public safety services.
In 2006, the Sheriff’s Foundation provided $35,000 for the purchase of five canines and related equipment.
